Whatever the weather swimming in the natural spring fed pool at GlenMyu Estate, Sri Lanka is a unique experience.
Despite the weather, swimming when the mist sweeps through the Sri Lankan Hill Country it is a great experience.
The mist provides silence apart from the sounds of the water and some birds flying around.
Water temperature is refreshing and invigorating. The feeling when I finish my swim is amazing.
Swimming in the morning before the sun comes up.
The best start to a morning is to enter the swimming pool and get my exercise out of the way early. Swimming is good for you in so many ways and my muscles get a good workout without the stress as they are supported by the water.
The birds are up and about and provide the background music. As I swim I watch the birds swoop by as they choose where they start their day.Â

At the end of the day the colours by the pool make an evening swim a special place to be.Â
It’s so tranquil watching the colours change as the sun goes down. Any tiredness from the day is washed away by the cool, refreshing water which has been gently warmed by the sun during the day.Â
Sometimes it just me at the pool. It’s a great time for reflection and giving thanks for another wonderful day in the Sri Lankan Hill country.
The Sri Lankan Hill Swallows swoop and take a sip of water from the pool. I have no idea why they really want to do this. Below the pool we have a large stream where they could drink from. There may also be the added benefit of scooping up an insect of two that are on water. Perhaps a small fish that inhabit the stream.Â
