The Pekoe Trail Stage 5
The Pekoe Trail Stage 5 is an 11.85 km hike from Kumbaloluwa to Watagoda in Sri Lanka through rural villages and past rivers and waterfalls.
What's the Pekoe Trail All about?
The Pekoe Trail is part of the European Union’s 5.7 million Euro  support for Sri Lanka’s National Tourism Strategy. Also the  United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided approximately $787,000 in support of the project.
It is a 300 kilometre long distance walking trail through the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka.
There are 22 stages of distances varying from a minimum of circa 9 kilometres to just over 18 kilometres.
This walking trail takes you through some of the finest ecology and mountain terrain in the South of Asia.
The journey begins in Kandy and you travel towards Nuwara Eliya, passing through Haputale, Hatton and Ella.

Where should I stay on the Pekoe Trail?
Sri Lanka offers a wide range of accommodation which you can find on the usual websites such as Booking.com and Airbnb.Â
You can stay at a homestay, hostel, B &B, boutique hotel and on and up to 5 star global brand hotels.
At the time of writing The Official Pekoe Trail Website does not have a list of recommended accommodation to stay at along the trail.
