Suddenly, she wandered to the far end of the land.
We believe she wanted privacy from other animals.
Her behaviour was unusual and caught our attention.
Then came cries from our workers nearby.
I thought an eagle was attacking our chickens.
The Surprise Calf and Her First Moments
I walked past the pool towards the stream.
Ruwanthi was watching Maali from a safe distance.
By the time I arrived, the calf was born.
Maali was gently licking her clean.
We discovered the calf was female.
Upul moved her to a safer spot.
Maali continued to care for her lovingly.
A Honeymoon Memory to Treasure
Our guests were on their honeymoon.
They met the calf just after her birth.
It was a magical moment for them.
They watched the calf try to stand.
After a few tumbles, she found her feet.
Naming Our New Calf
The couple suggested Cocoa or Coconut.
We chose Coco, which means Coconut in Spanish.
So their suggestion lived on in spirit.
We’re excited to watch Coco grow.
