Our guests hiked around a wet Horton Plains in December 2023 and gave us their entry ticket to share.
Our guests travelled from GlenMyu Estate around 6 a.m. so they could arrive early and hopefully get a view at World’s End.
Unfortunately, Sri Lanka had experienced a lot of rain in October, November and until Mid December.
The pathways at Horton Plains National Park were in a very poor state and it was much more difficult than usual to hike the 11 kilometre circuit.
There had also been some damage to some of the signposts and that found it more challenging navigating the circuit.
They did wait at World’s End for a while for the clouds to clear and provide a good view of the 870 metre precipice. The clouds did not clear and they carried on the challenging journey to Baker’s Falls.
There were a lot of local Sri Lankans at Baker’s Falls when they arrived who we’re enjoying the waterfall.
They were amazed that Sri Lankans were hiking in their sandals (jandals) and were able to manage through the slippery and wet conditions.
Overall they succeeded hiking the trail in challenging conditions and, despite being very tired when they returned to GlenMyu Estate.Â
They had achieved a feat that many people could not have achieved. They have to be congratulated on their success.Â
Hopefully they will return at another time of the year to Sri Lanka, when Horton Plains National Park has dried out and will enjoy a wonderful experience.

Getting to Horton Plains National Park.
We arranged a van to take our guests to Horton Plains from GlenMyu Estate.
The van driver waited at Horton Plains for the guests to complete their hike and returned to GlenMyu Estate. The hire cost in December 2023 was LKR17,000 plus tip.
Fuel prices in Sri Lanka change on regular basis. Therefore there may be an increase or decrease in price when you enquire about transport to Horton Plains.
