Our First Guests to hike the Pekoe Trail Stage 13 from Haputale to Lipton's Seat

In July 2023 we had our first guests that hiked Stage 13 of the Pekoe Trail starting in Haputale to Lipton’s Seat.

We were delighted that they were happy to share their photographs with us so we could give you a taste of what you will experience on the hike.

There were clouds in the sky which made it great for hiking and for taking some dramatic photographs.

Pekoe Trail Haputale to Lipton Seat

A lot of the hike is through manicured tea estates. They also encountered a some animals enjoying Stage 13 of the Pekoe Trail!

The landscape is incredible and the clouds were ominous – rain was on its way!

Taking your time on the Pekoe Trail to enjoy and capture the stunning views is a must to get everything out of your day.

Our guests had a leisurely breakfast at GlenMyu Estate before they drove to Haputale for the start of their hike.

They found the hike quite tiring and hired a Tuk Tuk to take them back from Lipton’s Seat to Haputale to pick up their car.

There were not many hikers on this stage of the Pekoe Trail however we would expect there to be more people tackling the trail as it gets established.

You can find out more about the Pekoe Trail at the official Pekoe Trail website.

Lipton’s Seat is a famous landmark in the Sri Lankan Hill Country where Thomas Lipton would sit with a cup of tea in hand and proudly look over his estate!

We would like to say a big thank you to George and Emily for sharing their photos with us so that we could share them with you.

Why our guests chose GlenMyu Estate when they hiked Stage 13 of the Pekoe Trail?

We believe that our guests were looking for a place where they could truly relax after their hike and have a really good bespoke meal. As we only have three bedrooms at the estate there is a little bit of luxury for you in the Sri Lankan Hill Country.
