Lipton’s Seat
Getting to Lipton’s Seat
Litpon’s Seat is accessed via Haputale Town and it will It takes you an hour to get there.
It’s around 16 kilometres from Haputale which doesn’t appear to be too far.
However, the road is quite narrow, windy and ascends up the hills to the viewpoint.
Although brave souls have managed to get there by car, we would highly recommend taking a Tuk Tuk. This will be less stressful and you will be providing a local person with some income.
Trust me, I’ve driven up to St Catherine which is part of the Pekoe Trail and the route is part of the drive to Lipton’s Seat.
I had to reverse several times on a small one lane track which was a bit too scary for my likening.
We would recommend taking a Tuk Tuk to Litpon’s Seat
The cost for the Tuk Tuk from GlenMyu Estate is around LKR 6,000.
The entry fee is minimal at LKR 550 per person.
There is an additional charge of LKR 100 for the Tuk Tuk to take you up to the Lipton’s Seat viewpoint.
It’s a great experience at an affordable cost.

Diyaluma Falls is 220 m (720 ft) high and the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka.
The falls are formed by Punagala Oya, a tributary of Kuda Oya which in turn, is a tributary of Kirindi Oya.
In the Sinhalese language, Diyaluma or Diya Haluma means “rapid flow of water” or may be translated as “liquid light”.
Upper Diyaluma Pools are an amazing experience.
The cool clear water surrounded by rocks and plant life makes you feel connected with nature.
We love wading through these pools after the short hike to the top.
There are other pools to swim in on the lower levels.
We would recommend that you are cautious as the edges can be slippery and a little dangerous.
Getting to Diyaluma Waterfall and Upper Diyaluma Pools
If you are coming to GlenMyu Estate from the south of the country you will most likely pass Diyaluma Waterfall when you travel from Wellawaya on the A4 road.
You can view the waterfall from the road.
There is a small road which takes you to some small shops and the path to Upper Diyaluma Pools.
Diyaluma Waterfall is around 45 minutes drive from GlenMyu Estate.
We would recommend taking a Tuk Tuk to Diyaluma Waterfall and Upper Diyaluma Pools.
The cost for the Tuk Tuk from GlenMyu Estate is around LKR 6,000.
The entry fee is minimal at LKR 350 per person.

Adisham Bungalow Booking Price
What does the entry ticket cost for Adisham Bungalow, Haputale?
Adisham Bungalow is a tourist site that our guests at GlenMyu Estate visit.
They normally combine seeing the beautiful gardens and the rooms in the house with a visit to Lipton’s Seat and Dambetenne Tea Estate.
Adisham Hall is not old compared to buildings that you will see in Europe.
However, it is very popular with local Sri Lankans as it is a reminder of the country’s Colonial past. It is also in a cooler climate at an elevation of 1,500 metres (5,000 feet) above sea level.
Sri Lankans feel the cold at Adisham Bungalow if they live in one of the warmer parts of the island.
Don’t be surprised if you see Sri Lankans wrapped up in coats scarves and hats and tourists in shorts and t-shirts!
Both Lipton’s Seat and Adisham Bungalow are located outside Haputale Town.
Adisham Bungalow is 4 kilometres from Haputale Town.
Lipton’s Seat is 15 kilometres from Haputale Town. It is 6 kilometres from Dambetenne Tea Factory.
Many of our guests at GlenMyu Estate take a Tuk Tuk to Lipton’s Seat and them walk through the tea gardens to Dambetenne Tea Factory for a tour.
Dambetenne Tea factory tour is quite reasonable in cost (around LKR 1,500).

What is the ticket cost to enter Adisham Bungalow?
Similar to other tourist sights in Sri Lanka, Adisham Bungalow is know under a variety of names.
Adisham Bungalow is also known as Adisham Hall.
It also hosts St Benedict’s Monastery.
Adisham Bungalow was once the country house of Sir Thomas Lester Villiers (31 October 1869 – 21 December 1959).
Today it houses the Adisham Monastery of the St. Benedict.
The Hall and gardens are a picturesque sight were worth visiting when you are visiting Haputale and the surrounding area.
The entrance fee is economical and therefore is a good experience if you are on a budget.
The building of Adisham Hall started in 1927 and was completed in 1931. You can see the date on the entrance to the main building.
It was named “Adisham” after Thomas Listers’ hometown in Kent, UK.
Adisham Bungalow was sold in 1949 (ten years before Listers death).
In 1960, the Adisham bungalow was bought and is now used as a theological training centre for the Benedictine Fathers of the Roman Catholic Church.
The front part of the bungalow is open to tourists (two rooms) and the back part is retained as the monastery.
The 10-acre Adisham Estate is full of flowers as well as well-grown fruit trees. Jams, cordials, chutneys, syrups etc. Produced in the Adisham bungalow using these fruits.
Adisham Bungalow has been used as a holiday home by the elite since the time of Thomas Lister. Even if you don’t have
Adisham Bungalow is located just outside Haputale on the B48 Road between Haputale and Boralanda.

The gardens are a highlight of visiting Adisham Bungalow.
There are only two rooms to view at Adisham Hall.
It’s an interesting experience, especially if you are used to seeing well funded museums in Europe.
The rooms are a little dusty and not messy, however, this adds to the experience.
The guide is enthusiatic and fantastic and makes this a special experience.
You can further support the enterprise by buying some homemade jams and cordials from the shop. Maybe a jam would be a good gift to take home to for your family to sample.
