A Surprise Arrival at GlenMyu Estate

GlenMyu Estate is a peaceful retreat in Sri Lanka’s Uva Province.

Guests enjoy nature, comfort, and a touch of compassion.

We recently rehomed two rescue puppies and planned a short break.
Our resident dogs needed time to settle and relax.

This morning, two small puppies arrived unexpectedly!

We were alerted by loud barking from our dogs.
The puppies had wandered into the estate, looking lost and hungry.

It was clear they needed help and safety.

The Challenge of Welcoming New Puppies

Introducing new puppies is not always easy.

Our existing dogs feel unsettled by sudden arrivals.
They are protective of their space and routines.

We try to balance compassion with the wellbeing of our dogs.

Despite the challenges, we never turn away a puppy in need.

Each rescue is a commitment to care and rehabilitation.
We assess their health, behaviour, and emotional needs.

Then we begin the journey towards finding them a loving home.

Rehabilitation and Rehoming at GlenMyu Estate

Rehabilitation takes time, patience, and love (and visits to the vet for assessment and vaccinations).

We provide food, shelter, and gentle socialisation.

Our goal is to prepare each puppy for adoption.
We work with trusted networks to find suitable homes.

Recently, two puppies found wonderful new families.
We felt proud and relieved, ready for a short pause.

But fate had other plans with today’s surprise arrivals.
We are now back in rescue mode once again.

More than a holiday destination

GlenMyu Estate is more than a holiday destination.

It’s a place of healing, kindness, and connection.

Many of our guests miss their pets whilst they are on holiday in Sri Lanka.

As our dogs are all vaccinated and used to meeting guests, they provide a temporary substitute for their pets at home.
